The Importance Of Growth And Establishment In Our Lives And Our Relationship With God
Pastor Benard A. Makau | 11 June 2023
Pastor Ben emphasized the importance of growth and establishment in our lives and our relationship with God during his sermon on 2 Chronicles 14:1 onwards. To achieve growth and establishment, Pastor Ben highlighted the following:
First, we need to strengthen our commitment to God. King Asa's success in his initial 10 years of reign was due to his commitment to God. On the other hand, King Solomon's drift from God's commands led to his downfall (see 1 Kings 11:1-13). The more the Lord blesses us, the more we should love and remain faithful to Him.
Secondly, we need to establish mechanisms and systems to help us meet our basic needs and desires. For example, adequate basic items like food help us to focus on our relationship with God with little distraction. By meeting our needs, we free our focus and priority to growing wholesomely in building and strengthening our relationship with God.
Thirdly, we need to let everything that we have work for us. We should utilize what we have and not beat ourselves up for what we don't have. This could be in terms of skills, assets, networks, and more. By doing so, we can grow as individuals and in our relationship with God. Moses only had a staff in his hand, and the widow only had a small amount of oil left. But God gave them the power to do more. Our networks and even our spouses can be a blessing to us.
In conclusion, Pastor Ben's sermon reminds us that growth and establishment in our lives and our relationship with God require commitment, meeting our basic needs, and utilizing what we have. By doing so, we can grow and thrive in all aspects of our lives.
